Bonham Wake Wildlife Sanctuary

Located in Airville, Pennsylvania, the Bonham Wake Wildlife Sanctuary was established in memory of Elizabeth S. Bonham, whose estate made its creation possible. At her request, the latter portion of her name was used for the sanctuary, which was officially dedicated by the Conservation Society of York County on May 17, 1977.

The sanctuary is situated on the former Spencer Farm, which was purchased on October 18, 1968. Renovations and construction transformed the property into a center for the study and research of wildlife native to York County, as well as migratory species. The site is rich in local bird and animal life and serves as a valuable resource for conservation education.

A room within the sanctuary features a display of mounted specimens by local taxidermist Robert Gemmill. In addition, a meeting and workshop area is available for students and researchers.

Access to the sanctuary center is by permission only. To inquire about visits or events, please contact the Conservation Society of York County.
